In many ways, there is NO similar program in the region, both in terms of quality as well as contents. That said, below we try to make a more careful comparison.

The IMQF and Masters programs in mathematical finance

The IMQF program uses quantitative skills in order to apply them to solve exacting financial and economics problems. In the region, there are two more programs that do something similar, at the Math departments in Novi Sad and Zagreb. Both of these programs are quality programs leading to a masters degree in Mathematics. Because of that, their natural focus is primarily on the mathematical methods and less on finance contents.

The IMQF program develops math skills but these skills are not an aim in itself. Rather, the focus of the program is on using technical skills to solve real life finance problems. The degree we issue is in Economics. Also, our lecturers constitute a potent mix of top American, European, and domestic faculty, something that no other program in the region can provide.

The IMQF and other masters programs in banking and finance in the region

There are several master programs at private or state business and economics departments that over the past several years have entered the regional educational market and promise to teach finance (at least, among other disciplines). The main difference between our program and these programs are two-fold: they mostly focus on what can be termed  "soft skills", i.e., management skills needed to deal with people and describe problems. While these skills are undoubtedly very useful, many problems can only be solved by applying "hard skills", i.e., the skills that the IMQF program focuses on. Thus, if you would like to be able not only to talk about problems but also solve them, then the IMQF is the right choice!
